		<description>Thanks for this. Didn&#039;t quite work for me. The use of socat to connect to the local filesystem socket won&#039;t work in the version of pulseaudio I have because the directory name in /tmp is randomised.

Instead, I have done 

socat TCP-LISTEN:4000,fork TCP:localhost:4713

and enabled tcp access in pulseaudio /etc/pulseaudio/default.conf

load-module module-esound-protocol-tcp auth-anonymous=1
load-module module-native-protocol-tcp auth-anonymous=1</description>
